UNOPS is seeking a video production company to conduct the post-production/editing of video footage for video spotlight stories about the Equator Prize 2020 winners as well as videos for the Oslo Tropical Forest Forum 2021, and support the dissemination of the Equator Prize 2020 videos on various media.

The Equator Initiative brings together the United Nations, governments, civil society, businesses and grassroots organizations to recognize and advance local sustainable development solutions for people, nature and resilient communities. The Equator Initiative seeks to:

•             Recognize the success of local and indigenous initiatives;

•             Create opportunities and platforms to share knowledge and good practice;

•             Inform policy to foster an enabling environment for local and indigenous community action;

•             Develop the capacity of indigenous peoples and local communities to scale-up their impact.

Key Deliverables
The successful bidder will deliver the following final products. All raw footage related to the Equator Prize winning communities will be provided by UNOPS Equator Initiative Team. The successful bidder may need to supplement with a modest amount of archival/stock footage, where adequate, and should budget accordingly.   Completion of 11 short 120-second videos in HD resolution spotlighting each prize winning communities, following technical specifications laid out by the project team and delivered at the onset of post-production:
– Scripting and creative direction for compelling storytelling, aligning Equator Prize messaging and community-specific success stories
– Mix of existing video footage with graphic animation (where necessary to cover footage gaps, based on existing photo assets from the winner communities)
– Optimized for social media
– Music as appropriate
– Simple, brief map graphics, highlighting location of each organization (1 per video)
– Simple lower thirds
– Simple title and end cards
– Voiceover through community voices where such audio is available (no VO narration through VO artists is envisioned); subtitles as necessary when community voices are not in English. Project team will provide translations where necessary.
– Sound design/mixing
– Assume use of up to 30 seconds of archival/stock footage per video (average of 6 shots at 5 seconds each) Completion of 3 mid-length (about 4 minute) videos in HD resolution on forest themes (as agreed on with the project team), based on Equator Prize winners in 2020 or past editions, following technical specifications laid out by the project team and delivered at the onset of post-production:
– Scripting and creative direction for compelling storytelling, aligning Equator Prize messaging and community-specific success stories
– Mix of existing video footage with graphic animation and photo/still assets from Equator Prize winners from the 2020 and/or previous cycles. In case footage is from previous cycles, project team will provide extensive footage.
– Optimized for social media
– Music as appropriate
– Simple, brief map graphics, highlighting location of each organization (1 per video)
– Simple lower thirds
– Simple title and end cards
– Voiceover narration in English through artist (up to 2 min per video), or through community voices where such audio is available; subtitles as necessary when community voices are not in English. Project team will provide translations where necessary.
– Sound design/mixing
– Assume use of up to 30 seconds of archival/stock footage per video (average of 6 shots at 5 seconds each)

Provision of visual identity (title graphic, lower thirds, end cards etc.), including as modifiable templates for use during online award event(s) in September and in 2021 for the Oslo Tropical Forest Forum. Both outputs will use the same visual identity. In addition, provision of graphic elements for use on social media channels, based on elements created for the videos, in the lead-up to the event (starting in June):
– branding elements social media platforms (banners, icons, backgrounds, ads etc. for use on Facebook, Youtube, Vimeo, Twitter etc.)
– title animation for use in videos and on announcements
– graphic elements and templates for use in social media posts (both by project team on Equator Initiative digital properties and by partners and influencers)
– announcement, countdown, and post-event visuals
Visuals should include the Equator Initiative and Equator Prize logo where appropriate, in consultation with the project team. The Equator Initiative’s communications consultant will support content creation and provide existing assets. Provision of moderate dissemination and PR services to support the Equator Prize Event(s) in September, during the months of July, August, and September:
– Provide inputs into communications strategy and audience mapping
– Map influencers and manage outreach to influencers
– Refine key messaging for Equator Prize
– Support content creation for social media channels, in particular Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, in the lead-up to the event in July, August and September, creating audience interest and engagement before, during and after the event.
– Create templates for use by partners and influencers
– Coordinate promotion efforts across partners and influencers
– Media outreach for the events (such as op-ed placements, news articles, interviews)
– Support live online event on Facebook or other suitable platform
The Equator Initiative’s communications consultant will support content creation, outreach efforts, and provide existing assets. Provision of any edit hire, edit bays, and equipment required to complete the post production process Procurement, subcontracting and management of any additional talent required In order to deliver on above, the successful bidder will:   Advise client on method of presentation, budget, and production schedules needed to complete projects; Develop outlines, story boards, and/or any needed documents for project production to achieve final deliverables; Work with the project team on two rounds of feedback (first draft, second draft, final draft, final product) Provide foreign language audio tracks as well as accessibility features such as captioning and audio descriptions, in case required by the production. Note that translation of content into foreign language, if necessary, will be conducted by UNDP. Produce and disseminate professional audio-visual products to Equator Initiative/UNDP. Provide comprehensive post-production capabilities to deliver final products at industry-level standards as requested. Provide dissemination and PR services   Additionally, may be requested to arrange for the following tasks to be completed: May work with graphic designers, sound composers, and others in the development of manuals, soundtracks, or related materials for use in conjunction with audiovisual production. Advice on selection, use, and design of audiovisual material.   Monitoring and Reporting   Submission of a final report, on per case basis, to the requesting office that includes but is not limited to final deliverables, messages and promotional materials.  
Qualifications and Competencies
Active in professional video post-production, minimum 5-years+ video production experience required; Expertise and ability to direct projects using professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro; Previous significant experience in post-production for videos on topics of environment and international development, or humanitarian issues, or indigenous peoples/local communities required; Previous significant experience with video production in politically sensitive contexts required; Background knowledge in policy issues pertaining to environment and international development, humanitarian issues, indigenous peoples and local communities preferred; Familiarity with managing complex international projects involving complicated narrative arcs; Experience in providing public relations services to increase dissemination of outputs Ability to manage tight timelines and deliver exceptional work on deadline; Excellent managerial and communication skills; Flexible and responsive to changing priorities in a fluid environment; Comfortability with ambiguity and uncertainties;
